Terry Ryan, Winner of a 2010 Governor General’s Award
in Visual and Media Arts
from the Canada Council for the Arts
On behalf of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, we would like to congratulate Terry Ryan for recently receiving the Governor General's Outstanding Contribution Award. Terry has been and continues to be a tremendous champion of Inuit artists and their work. As a result of Terry's efforts, the McMichael is honoured to act as custodian of the Cape Dorset Collection and to present its significant works to our local, national and international visitors. We owe a great deal of gratitude to Terry, and the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative, for having the foresight and artistic vision to partner with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to preserve the outstanding works created by Cape Dorset artists.
