Quintroversy Woodwind Quintet - Peter and the Wolf
All Ages

Quintroversy Woodwind Quintet is reviving classical favourites for a new generation. The program begins with the traditional symphonic work of Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture to get young imaginations fluttering with sounds, melodies, pictures, colours, and stories. Narrator Daniel Wheeler then takes the audience through Prokofiev’s enchanting tale of Peter and the Wolf. With its delightful instrumental playfulness, this piece unites musical elements and invites everyone to participate in this timeless story.

Ashkenaz Foundation Ensemble
1:30 pm

The McMichael is pleased to partner with Ashkenaz to present a genre-defying performance featuring two of Israel’s most innovative musicians. Amos Hoffman is an Israeli jazz guitarist and oudist known worldwide as a pioneer in fusing the rhythms and melodic themes of the Middle East with modern jazz. Noam Lemish is a multifaceted pianist and composer whose music defies categorization. Together, they lead a powerful and imaginative quartet (also featuring bassist Justin Gray and drummer Derek Gray) that presents exciting jazz arrangements of songs originating from Yemenite, North African, Russian, and Persian Jewish communities.
