The three floors of Gallery, exhibition, and programming space, comprising 25,000 sq.ft., are surrounded by a network of outdoor trails, outdoor sculpture garden and 100 acres of conservation land with breathtaking views of the Humber Valley. Over 6,000 works of art representing the Art of Canada comprise the permanent collection, and the gallery welcomes on average more than 115,000 visitors annually. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Facilities & Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight for all aspects of the campus. The Director will lead a series of major projects to build, renovate, reposition, and restore elements of the McMichael campus and 100 acre property on which it is situated. The Director works with the Executive Director and management team, the board, the conservation authority, ​indigenous advisors, the municipal, provincial, and federal governments, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects meet or exceed all relevant considerations and that all input is considered.

The Director, Facilities & Operations will oversee the scope of Facility Manager (Building & Grounds); Technical Support Analyst (internal IT systems); Manager, Operations and the contract Security to ensure the safe, secure and efficient integration of building, grounds and operational systems. Qualified candidates will be strategic thinkers with minimum of 10 years of strategic planning, project management and leadership skills. Experience working on capital projects within the not-for-profit sector and with community stakeholders is required. Knowledge of Security, Building / class A gallery status requirements is required. As this position will oversee the Technical Support role, a very strong knowledge of IT user systems is necessary. Qualified candidates will have a degree in any combination of Architecture, Electrical/mechanical Engineering, Stationary Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building or Facility management.
