Groundskeepers 

Three (3) 7-week Ontario Summer Experience (SEP) positions.  Candidates must be registered in full time studies before and after the work term to qualify.

One (1) 16-week position

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The McMichael’s permanent collection consists of over 6,500 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of Canadian art. Through a network of outdoor paths and hiking trails, visitors can discover outdoor sculptures and wander the McMichael grounds and outdoor trails.

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is currently recruiting for 4 Summer Groundskeepers to work throughout the summer to do ground maintenance, including grass cutting, flower/shrub bed maintenance, ensuring that the trails are clear and destination grounds are free of tree debris for the visiting public and summer campers. The Grounds keeping positions support youth pursuing positions in the cultural sector or those with a focus on horticulture, landscape management and facilities /grounds work, in a public setting.

Candidates skills include:

  • Good knowledge in the use and safe operation of lawn equipment.
  • Energetic and efficient with ability to walk, push, bend, lift and carry.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • WHMIS knowledge and First aid training are assets.
  • This job is made possible through the Summer Experience Program grant, and candidates must be returning to school in the Fall.
