The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The impressive two levels of gallery spaces are surrounded by a network of outdoor trails, outdoor sculpture garden and 100 acres of conservation land with breathtaking views of the Humber Valley. The McMichael’s permanent collection consists of over 6,500 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of Canadian art.

The gallery welcomes on average more than 110,000 visitors annually. In addition to school groups and the general public, the gallery hosts weddings, corporate, social and fundraising events.

The Lead Visitor Services Representative(s) is responsible for the daily operations of the Admissions area, on-line ticket purchase and phone inquiries, with the primary focus of ensuring a welcoming visitor experience, that is positive and memorable, which includes sharing /promoting gallery information about exhibitions, programs, membership, Retail Shop, etc. to incoming visitors.   The Lead is responsible to ensure that current information is available and that the entrance areas are neat and organized, with visitor amenities in good working order -contacting any departments when this is not the case. The Lead Visitor Service Representative will efficiently and warmly handle admissions-related concerns and if required elevate to the Guide Supervisor. In addition, the Lead will complete admission sales transactions, enter visitor data in the database and generate related reports

The position is staffed 6-7 days per week, and is shared amongst two staff, each working 3-4 shifts per week, which will include a combination of weekend and weekdays, as well as some evening shifts for certain events. Candidates must be available to work 3 of 4 weekends. The successful candidate will have 3 years in-person and telephone customer service experience. The individual will be extremely personable and welcoming with excellent verbal communication skills, organizational and administration skills, an attention to detail, and a passion for the cultural sector. First Aid Certification is required. Experience with cash handling or admission ticketing, a second language and Supervisory experience are all assets. The position will require flexibility in scheduling.
