Grounds Keepers (3 positions)

Ontario Summer Experience Program (SEP) Grant & Canada Summer Jobs Grant

The Ground Keepers are responsible for  general grounds maintenance, grass cutting, flower/shrub bed maintenance, grounds clean-up, ensuring trails are clear and destination grounds are free of tree debris, particularly post ice-storm.  Position will include movement of equipment and supplies throughout the building, including set-up and tear-down of function equipment and furniture.

Experience working with lawn tools and machinery, and/or working in lawn care. Energetic, flexible with good customer service skills in a public institution. Position will require lifting items up to 20kg and bending to support maintenance duties.  First Aid training an asset.

ArtVenture Camp Program Support

7 weeks: July 2 – August 17, 2018

Ontario Summer Experience Program (SEP) Grant

The Art Camp Program Support will assist with the administrative functions in the preparation and delivery of the children and youth Summer Art camp programs at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Tasks include:

  • Assist in arranging the pre-camp training
  • Assist with the administration and delivery of the children and youth Art camp programs.
  • Perform related administrative tasks involving data entry creation of class lists, staff handbooks, reports, evaluations of staff and programs.
  • Assist with scheduling and booking of spaces as well as set up and take down of spaces.
  • Help oversee day to day operation of the summer Art program.

Students enrolled in Education studies; Early Childhood Education; Special Education; Art background would benefit from this position. Students are exposed to an Art Museum environment and in contact with the education of art to students of all learning abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills, superior organization skills, attention to detail and proficiency in MS Work and Excel is required. Passion and experience working and educating children and day camp experience preferred.

ArtVenture Studio Instructors: minimum 4 week terms

(Camp Studio Instructors are non-grant position and candidates need not fulfill the granting criteria)

ArtVenture Camp Instructors will work minimum 4-week terms. The main objectives of the Summer ArtVenture Camp Instructor is to develop and deliver creative art studio, and outdoor nature activities for children enrolled in summer camp. Programs must strongly relate to themes outlined in the McMichael ArtVenture Children’s brochure and should include meaningful connections to the McMichael’s collection and grounds. Fluency in English is required. Administration and all camp activities will take place at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg.

Successful candidates will currently be students, completing a post graduate degree or the third or fourth year of a bachelor degree, and will demonstrate srtong visual arts background and experience and a good working knowledge of Canadian Art, including Inuit and First Nations, a passion and experience working and educating children and experience in managing teams through leadership training, art camp involvement and other related skills.
