The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The McMichael permanent collection consists of over 6,400 works of art by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and other historical and contemporary artists who have made or are making a contribution to Canada’s artistic heritage. The gallery welcomes on average more than 110,000 regional, national and international visitors annually. 

The Gallery is recruiting for a part time Facility Support staff, to support the custodial and event set-up requirements primarily during the busy weekend and holiday periods. Hours of work rotate amongst team members between weekend day shifts and evening shifts.

The Facility Support staff ensure a high level of guest satisfaction during regular operations and special events by attending to specific client needs and providing sanitary and safe conditions throughout the facilities in use. Tasks include responding to work orders and performing required work for special events and functions, such as setting up chairs / tables, AV setup and cleaning of gallery facilities.

The successful candidate must:

  • have the ability to lift and push 50+ lb.
  • work rotational Saturdays, Sundays, and some holiday shifts
  • work will be both indoor and outdoor
  • be able to bend, carry, push and lift

Shifts rotate between daytime (7:00am-5:00pm) and evening for scheduled events (3:00pm-1:00am). First Aid certification and WHMIS knowledge are an asset.
