The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is recruiting for the full-time permanent position Building Operator / Facilities Support, responsible for the effective functioning of building systems, both physical and automated, while also supporting the Facilities maintenance with preventative maintenance checks and minor repairs, helping with set up of special events, meetings, and/or programs and with grounds related duties.
The Building Operator / Facilities Support role performs preventive, demand, and corrective maintenance on mechanical operating equipment and building environmental management systems throughout the Gallery. The role troubleshoots building-related problems including, but not limited to HVAC, mechanical, electrical, architectural, plumbing, life safety, elevator, and hot water boiler systems and their respective auxiliary equipment.
As a member of the Facilities team, this role supports the department with building and grounds related work orders and tasks.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have 3 years of hands-on experience in building environment and computerized building automation systems, HVAC, and mechanical and electrical systems in a comparable position in a comparable sized facility. A post-secondary diploma with certification in a related field (HVAC/BMS) is required. The role requires communication and service skills within all levels of the organization and with external trades. Computer literacy, including word processing and spreadsheet documentation and organizational applications is required.
The Facilities support tasks require good knowledge in the use and safe operation of building and grounds maintenance equipment, including small tools and snow removal equipment for which a driver’s licence is required. Training and certification in First Aid, CPR & AED, Health & Safety and WHMIS (2015)
The position will require the incumbent to be on call, with occasional work on weekends and evenings, and function support.
