School Program Docents

Do you love art and teaching?

Consider joining our vibrant McMichael Canadian Art Collection Volunteer Committee as a School Program Docent program

What does a School Program Docent do?

McMichael Docents engage students, between JK to Grade 12, in school programs in the gallery and on the grounds. Our teaching philosophy emphasizes an interactive approach, encouraging an exchange between the Docent and student groups. Leading school programs, such as gallery tours, provides exciting opportunities to view a variety of special exhibitions at the McMichael, as well as the permanent collection which includes artworks by the Group of Seven and their contemporaries and Indigenous artists.

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection has two Docent groups: School Programs & Gallery Tours

School Programs Docents are responsible for leading programs for school groups on weekdays.

Gallery Tour Docents are responsible for providing permanent collection and special exhibition tours to adult and special interest groups during the week and/or on weekends.

If you are interested in applying to be a part of our Docent program, complete the attached volunteer application form and forward to the Human Resources department with your resume via e-mail at hr@mcmichael.com.
