The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The McMichael is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Development Coordinator on our Fundraising team. Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, the individual will contribute to key duties that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. The incumbent will be highly skilled and organized with strong administrative experience in a fundraising /development department.
The individual will provide coordinating support to the Executive Director, McMichael Canadian Art Foundation, and the Development team by undertaking a range of duties and projects within a fast-paced, fluid environment. In support of the Manager, Membership & Database, the Development Coordinator will create membership and information packages and mailings, provide database support, and lead stewardship activities. This role will support the Development team through event support, customized service to members, donors and prospects, with a high level of initiative, tact and diplomacy, dealing with contacts throughout the McMichael, donors and senior level volunteers and the community.
Skills: The ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years’ experience in a fundraising environment and demonstrated experience in the efficient coordination, administration, and support of multiple areas of development – membership, major gifts, annual giving, and events. The incumbent will also act as the first point of contact for the office, requiring professional written and verbal service skills.
A university degree or college diploma with a focus on fundraising, project management or another related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required. The position requires experience with prospect management best practices, data, and reporting. The incumbent will have an understanding and experience with donor databases, ideally Raiser’s Edge, and a proven ability to work well with a wide range of constituents including volunteers, donors, and internal team members. Exceptional inter-personal and communication (written and verbal) skills combined with strong organizational and analytical skills are required. A passion for the arts with experience in an arts foundation or similarly complex environment is desirable.
Compensation: $45,000 – $47,000.00 with health and dental coverage, OMERS defined-benefit pension, reciprocal attractions and social activities. This is an existing position and is a combination of on-site and remote work.
