The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The McMichael is seeking a Financial Planning & Reporting Manager responsible for preparing and/or assisting with external and internal financial reporting, performing various accounting activities, and preparing payroll periodically for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation, which are both supported by the Finance team.

Reporting to the CFO, this position will prepare routine financial reports, including financial statements, key performance indicator summaries, and grant/funding summaries. The role will support the preparation of the annual CRA filings, including reconciling donation records, preparing and issuing annual tax slips, including all T4As, and compile audit working papers and government reporting and help facilitate efficient audits. The Manager will support the CFO in establishing tracking and reporting for capital projects, as required, and preparing the annual operating budget and loading all budgets into the ERP.

The incumbent will be responsible for accounting and accounts receivable activities including producing the daily cash reconciliation reports, processing accounts receivable for various revenue streams, posting invoices to the subledger, reviewing A/R reports and reconciling /reporting HST filings. Coordinating with the Accounting Manager, this position will prepare the payroll for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and McMichael Canadian Art Foundation on a consistent, periodic basis (e.g. once every couple of months).

The successful candidate will possess a completed Chartered Professional Accountant designation. A minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting and finance experience, with experience and/or knowledge in non-profit accounting is required. Payroll experience is a strong asset.  The incumbent has a strong work ethic and is extremely detail-oriented and accurate in work with strong analytical skills, intermediate to advanced Excel skills and system skills/experience with ERPs such as Sage, and payroll systems such as Ceridian DayForce and PowerPay.  Solid written and verbal communication skills with strong time management and adaptability to changing circumstances and managing multiple deliverables is required.

Compensation: $70-80,000.00 with health and dental coverage, OMERS defined-benefit pension, reciprocal attractions and social activities. This is a new position and is a combination of on-site and remote work.
