Celebrate the richness of Canada’s cultural diversity through art workshops, storytelling sessions, exhibition tours, and a special musical performance by KUNÉ, Canada’s Global Orchestra, which brings together virtuosic musicians from every corner of the globe with Indigenous and Canadian talent.

About KUNÉ – Canada’s Global Orchestra

KUNÉ (which means “together” in Esperanto) – Canada’s Global Orchestra – was developed from a major initiative by The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto to explore and celebrate Canada’s cultural diversity and pluralism. The ensemble seeks to communicate in ways that words, politicians, and spiritual leaders cannot, and help to find a common language through music. The musicians hail from all corners of the globe—from Peru, Burkina Faso, Cuba, Ukraine, and beyond. The eleven musicians of KUNÉ play a diverse variety of instruments, from the tar of Iran to the bouzouki of Greece to the sitar of Pakistan.

This First Nations-led special event will celebrate the achievements of young entrepreneurs participating in the Indigenous Youth Opportunities Program (IYOP). Browse the marketplace and take in performances of traditional Eastern and Western First Nation community dance and music, featuring Tribal Vision Dance. This program is offered in partnership with True North Aid Organization.

Sculpture Parade!

Inspired by the whimsical art of Gathie Falk, join us for a day of discovery and anything-goes creativity. Try your hand at papier-mâché and create a sculpture as wild as your imagination to join in a playful art parade through the McMichael’s gardens. Then enjoy a live music performance, and finish you visit with an outdoor tea party!
