The program will provide an opportunity for the participants to create art at their own pace while enjoying social interaction in a safe and inclusive environment. \nThis program is intended for children aged 7 and up living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their siblings. The participants\, members of Autism Ontario\, will be able to join the program with their siblings and one supervising adult caregiver(one adult and up to three children/family). \nHOLIDAY WORKSHOP\nUnleash your creativity and become inspired by the beauty of the winter landscape at the McMichael! Families will enjoy a gentle outdoor hike through the Humber River Valley\, followed by time in the galleries and a hands-on studio session. Together\, we’ll experiment with mixed media materials to craft a one-of-a-kind keepsake. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Details\n \n \n \n DEC 14\, 2025\n 2 pm — 4 pm\n \n \n \n Location\n Pine Cottage\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER\n \n \n VISUAL SCHEDULE\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Participation Guidelines\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\nFor children and youth (ages 7 and older) living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their siblings (max three children per family).\nPre-registration is required through Autism Ontario.\nMaximum number of participants per workshop – 20 children (plus parents/caregivers/guardians).\nParents/caregivers/guardians must remain present throughout the workshop.\nParking and Gallery Admission are included.\nEach caregiver/family will receive a Family Pass to enjoy the McMichael at their leisure on another day of their choice.\n\nPlease note: \nThis is not a transfer of care program. SUMMARY:Artwell — Postcards from Canada
DESCRIPTION:Artwell: Postcards from Canada \n \n McMichael Accessible Program for Individuals Living with Dementia\n \n \n \n \nThe Artwell program is developed and delivered in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of York Region. Artwell is a series of interactive artmaking programs that supports emotional connections\, encouraging memory recall\, experimentation\, and gentle social interaction among individuals living with dementia. \nThe visual arts and music are recognized as having therapeutic benefits for individuals living with dementia. Viewing and creating art allows participants to focus on their capabilities instead of focussing on what they can no longer achieve. \nThe goal of the program is to reduce isolation and instill a sense of purpose while providing a memorable cultural experience and an opportunity to strengthen bonds between participants and caregivers. \nEach two-hour session is offered monthly. Each session is facilitated by two McMichael Educators and up to two volunteers. Registration is required. \nPOSTCARDS FROM CANADA\nIn this workshop\, participants will examine vintage postcards. They will look at images\, text\, and personal messages to try to evoke memories of a personal experience. The program provides an opportunity for the participants to view and create art while socializing  in a safe and inclusive environment. The program is offered on scheduled dates for individuals. Organized groups are welcome to book a session for up to 15 participants. \nHOLIDAY SOCIAL\nCelebrate a year of creativity and connection at this special winter gathering! We’ll explore the McMichael’s galleries and grounds\, discovering inspiration in art and nature. Back in the studio we will use our findings to create a personal painting inspired by what the McMichael means to us! Participants are encouraged to bring their favourite artworks from the past year to share with their peers in an exhibition-style celebration. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Details\n \n \n \n DEC 14\, 2025\n 10 am — 1:30 pm\n \n \n \n Location\n Pine Cottage\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n Visual Schedule\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Participation Guidelines\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\nFor young adults\, ages 18 and over\, living with special needs.\nPre-registration is required.\nMaximum number of participants per workshop—10 (plus caregivers).\nParticipants must be able to engage independently in activities\, or with parent/guardian/caregiver support.\n\nPlease note: This is not a transfer of care program.
