DESCRIPTION:Family Sunday: \nArctic Tales                            \n                                                \n                                            \n                    \n                                            \n                            \nCelebrate the richness of Inuit cultures through art\, storytelling\, and live performance at this special Family Sunday inspired by the Inuit works featured in Early Days.  \nThrough hands-on making\, music\, and stories\, visitors of all ages are invited to explore the traditions\, knowledge\, and creative practices of Inuit communities.  \n\n                        \n                                    \n                                    \n        \n            \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n    \n        \n            \n                \n                    \n                        \n                            \n                                Create Your Own \nStretched Canvas                            \n                                                \n                                                    Drop-in Art Making Workshop\n                                            \n                    \n                                            \n                            \nInspired by the Inuit practice of stretching sealskin to dry on wooden racks\, create your own stretched canvas artwork under the guidance of the artist and gallery instructors. This workshop was developed by Angela Aula\, a painter and makeup artist born and raised in Iqaluit\, Nunavut. \nAngela Aula\nAn Inuit painter\, muralist\, makeup artist\, and cultural educator from Iqaluit\, Nunavut. Now based in Toronto\, Angela creates bold and expressive work that blends traditional Inuit imagery with contemporary storytelling. She was raised in Pangnirtung\, Nunavut. \nSheepa continues to hold her original Eskimo Identification Canada E6-1312 \, first birth certificate that the government registered Inuit with. Her background is of Inuit and Cree with Inuktitut being her first language. \nSheepa was raised on the land in Nunavut and relocated to Durham Region in 1994. \nShe now finds joy teaching Inuit culture and traditions. She speaks to who Inuit are as people\, where they originate and language to all ages. She also possess seal hide teachings as it has been and continues to be a necessity to Inuit culture \nHer hobbies are crafting\, beading\, sewing and also teaches sewing Inuit clothing. \n\n\n                    \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n    \n        \n            \n                \n                    \n                        \n                            \n                                Arctic Tales                            \n                                                \n                                                    Storytelling Circle\n                                            \n                    \n                                            \n                            \nDiscover stories from Inuit communities through a guided exploration of artworks on view at the McMichael.
