September 29<\/b>, 2020,\u00a0<\/b>Kleinburg<\/b>, ON<\/b><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is proud to be featured in the upcoming, nationwide CBC broadcast of the four-part television series<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/span><\/i><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>premiering on CBC TV and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>CBC\u00a0<\/span><\/a>Gem<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Friday, October 9 at 9:00 pm<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(9:30\u00a0pm\u00a0NT).\u00a0Produced by\u00a0marblemedia, the\u00a0series\u00a0brings together professional and amateur artists from across the country as contestants in an unscripted artistic challenge. Hosted by Canadian broadcast veteran\u00a0Sook-Yin Lee, the grand prize includes the opportunity for the winner to have their artwork on view at the McMichael on a historic easel belonging to both Tom Thomson and A. Y. Jackson following the finale. Episodes also feature McMichael Executive Director Ian\u00a0Dejardin\u00a0discussing\u00a0the history of landscape painting in Canada.\u00a0The series\u00a0originally made its worldwide premiere in February 2020 on\u00a0Makeful, which will also be airing an encore presentation of the series.\u00a0Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/i>\u00a0is modelled on the original UK format by\u00a0Storyvault\u00a0Films\u00a0for Sky Arts, distributed by\u00a0Banijay\u00a0Rights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Landscape Artist of the Year Canada\u00a0<\/i>on CBC also coincides with the McMichael celebration of the centenary year of the Group of Seven's first exhibition with\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0A Like Vision\u00a0\u00bb: The Group of Seven at 100,\u00a0<\/i>a landmark installation of more than 280 artworks by every member of the Group.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/i>\u00a0premieres on Friday, October 9 at 9:00\u00a0pm (9:30\u00a0pm<\/span>\u00a0NT)\u00a0 on CBC TV and the free<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>CBC Gem<\/span><\/a>\u00a0streaming service, with a new episode debuting weekly each Friday night. The series finale will air on October 30<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at 9:00 pm (9:30 pm\u00a0NT).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/i>\u202fis a four-episode series challenging Canadian artists to compete for the coveted title of Landscape Artist of the Year Canada. Each week features breathtaking and iconic Canadian landscapes serving as both backdrop and inspiration for the artists competing to win a $10,000 cash prize and the opportunity to have their artwork on view at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, home to the art of Canada.\u00a0Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/i>\u00a0is produced\u00a0by\u00a0marblemedia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Landscape Artist of the Year Canada<\/i>\u202fwill be available weekly on CBC TV and CBC Gem. The winning artwork will be on view in the historic Founders' Lounge at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Makeful\u00a0will also air an encore presentation of\u00a0Landscape Artist of the Year Canada\u00a0<\/i>on Sundays at 7:00\u00a0pm\u00a0ET\/PT beginning October 11.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
