May 22, 2024, KLEINBURG, ON – <\/strong><\/span>The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is pleased to announce the return of its signature annual fundraiser, the Moonlight Gala<\/em><\/u><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Canadian art\u2019s biggest night under the stars will dazzle hundreds of distinguished guests with a memorable evening of dining and dancing, all in support of the art of Canada. Funds raised directly support the McMichael\u2019s exhibition, conservation, and educational activities.<\/p>\n

Co-chaired by Debra Fenwick<\/strong> and Laura Mirabella<\/strong> with a welcome from Honorary Chair Steven del Duca<\/strong>, Mayor of the City of Vaughan, guests of the Moonlight Gala will be treated to a culinary extravaganza by The Food Dudes<\/strong>, an interactive gourmet experience by award-winning Indigenous chef David Wolfman<\/strong>, fine Ontario wines from Canada\u2019s first fully LEED-certified winery Stratus Vineyards<\/strong>, and live performances headlined by the Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Gala\u2019s popular online auction will also return for 2024. This year, the auction will offer an enviable selection of all-Canadian travel packages, experiences, and gifts.<\/p>\n

Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the McMichael’s 2024 summer exhibitions: People of the Watershed: Photographs by John Macfie, Bertram Brooker: When We Awake!, Jackson\u2019s Wars: A.Y. Jackson before the Group of Seven<\/strong>, and Ghosts of Canoe Lake: New Work by Marcel Dzama<\/strong>, which examine diverse Canadian and Indigenous cultural legacies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe McMichael Canadian Art Collection provides visitors with a visual illustration of our country\u2019s rich history, exhibiting the diverse perspectives and lived experiences of Canadians from all backgrounds,\u201d said Neil Lumsden<\/strong>, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. \u201cOur government is proud to partner with the McMichael to showcase and celebrate Canadian excellence in the arts, reaffirming Ontario\u2019s reputation as a world-class destination for arts and culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the Moonlight Gala go toward the conservation and exhibition of more than 7,000 works of art in the McMichael’s permanent collection, the development of pacesetting educational programs for children and youth, and the stewardship of the McMichael\u2019s natural landscape, trails, gardens, and outdoor art.<\/p>\n

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is an agency of the Government of Ontario and acknowledges the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation.
