Participez \u00e0 une causerie interactive en compagnie de Lisa Laurin, \u00e9ducatrice principale au McMichael, ayant pour th\u00e8me le r\u00f4le du discours artistiques dans la narration et la r\u00e9interpr\u00e9tation de l\u2019histoire. La conversation s\u2019articulera autour de l\u2019\u0153uvre de Cornelius Krieghoff, artiste canadien d\u2019origine hollandaise du 19e si\u00e8cle, et de celle de Kent Monkman, artiste contemporain autochtone\u202f\u2013\u202fdeux artistes s\u00e9par\u00e9s par plus de deux si\u00e8cles dont la d\u00e9marche s\u2019inscrit dans la longue tradition de la peinture d\u2019histoire. About the event<\/span><\/h1>\n

What is the role of the artist when it comes to the historical narrative?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Join an interactive conversation with Lisa Laurin, McMichael Senior Educator, as she explores the role of the artist\u2019s voice in the telling, and retelling, of history.\u00a0 Laurin will focus on the work of 19th century Dutch-Canadian painter Cornelius Krieghoff and contemporary Indigenous artist Kent Monkman, painters working more than a century apart whose work is grounded in the long tradition of history painting. This program will consider how historical narratives are transformed in the hands of the artist as perceptions and perspectives shift over the centuries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
