For today\u2019s concert, we take inspiration from the words of Ian A.C. Dejardin, Executive Director of the McMichael, who describes Tom Thomson, Canada\u2019s pre-eminent modern painter thus: \u201c\u2026 because the career is so brief\u2014really less than four years\u2014it is less of an arc and more of an explosion.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\nOur program includes works by three composers who shared with Thomson the fate of short but explosive working careers: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart<\/strong> (1756\u20131792), Hyacinthe Jadin<\/strong> (1776\u20131800), and Franz Schubert<\/strong> (1797\u20131828). The balance of the program is drawn from four stars of the late 18th century whose lights burned more steadily, but brightly just the same: Luigi Boccherini, Felice Giardini, Giovanni Battista Noferi,<\/strong> and Joseph Bologne, Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>Performers<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\nPatricia Ahern, violin<\/span>
