Parmi les tr\u00e9sors de la Collection <\/span>McMichael<\/span> d\u2019art canadien <\/span>figur<\/span>e<\/span>nt <\/span>54 <\/span>v\u00e9ritables bijoux cr\u00e9\u00e9s par<\/span> l\u2019ar<\/span>tiste qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois <\/span><\/span>Clarence Gagnon <\/span><\/span>(1881<\/span>–<\/span>1942). <\/span>Achev\u00e9es au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1930, ces \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es pour orner ce qui constitue sans doute l\u2019ouvr<\/span>age illustr\u00e9 le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre mis en image par un artiste canadien <\/span>: <\/span><\/span>Maria Chapdelaine<\/span><\/span>, <\/span>un texte \u00e9crit par le romancier fran\u00e7ais <\/span>Louis H\u00e9mon <\/span>et publi\u00e9 en <\/span>1933 <\/span>aux <\/span>\u00c9ditions Mornay <\/span>\u00e0<\/span> Paris. <\/span>Ces peintures, dont le colonel R.S. McLaughlin a fait don au <\/span>McMichael<\/span> en 1969,<\/span> constituent les premi\u00e8res \u0153uvres d\u2019un artiste francophone \u00e0 entrer dans notre collection<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Par souci de conservation, ces peintures ne peuvent \u00eatre expos\u00e9es que tous les trois \u00e0 cinq ans. Le <\/span>McMichael<\/span> est heureux de pouvoir les pr<\/span>\u00e9<\/span>senter p<\/span>endant<\/span> la saison des F\u00eates 2024<\/span>, <\/span>o\u00f9 elles accompagneront notre exposition <\/span><\/span>Le Fleuve des r\u00eaves\u202f: l\u2019impressionnisme et le Saint-Laurent<\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
