McMichael Board Member George F. Dark Recipient of Governor General’s Medal in Landscape Architecture

August 23, 2018, Kleinburg, ON– The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is pleased to congratulate Board of Trustees Member Mr. George F. Dark on his Governor General’s Medal in Landscape Architecture.

Mr. Dark has been a passionate and tireless contributor to the McMichael since joining the Facilities and Property Committee, which he now chairs. Mr. Dark is recognized at the McMichael for his extraordinary leadership skills and his unwavering support of both the gallery and The Art of Canada*.

The Governor General’s Medal is one of Canada’s highest achievements, and the McMichael and its Board of Trustees salute Mr. Dark on his considerable achievements in the Landscape Architecture.

About George F. Dark

George F. Dark, FCSLA, FASLA, OALA, Senior Design Partner at Urban Strategies, is an urban designer, landscape architect and member of both the College of Fellows of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and the Council of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects. George has over 40 years of professional experience. For the past 15 years George has focussed on the strategic design direction of large-scale urban regeneration projects, putting him at the center of design decisions for some of Canada’s largest urban projects. About the McMichael Canadian Art Collection

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is an agency of the Government of Ontario and acknowledges the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation. It is the foremost venue in the country showcasing the Group of Seven and their contemporaries. In addition to touring exhibitions, its permanent collection consists of over 6,500 artworks by Canadian artists, including paintings by the Group of Seven and their contemporaries, as well as First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists.
