This play–based program is designed to provide a first art camp experience to young artists-to-be. Storytelling activities, interactive explorations of exhibitions and outdoor adventures on the McMichael’s grounds will provide inspiration for artmaking projects. To ensure that our participants are comfortable with this full-day program, instructors will adapt the program to the young participants’ energy level, incorporating games, social time and restful breaks.

This interactive full-day art camp is a fun and relaxing way to go behind the scenes at the gallery, discover new artists and artistic styles, and experiment with a wide range of artmaking methods and materials in our fully stocked studio.
Guided by experienced McMichael art instructors, Art Explorers involves guided exhibition viewing, outdoor activities, and in-studio artmaking sessions that will encourage campers to unleash their creative powers, travel to the farthest reaches of their imaginations and make new friends.

Program Description:
This interactive full-day art camp will offer a unique opportunity to explore the McMichael’s special exhibitions, discover new artists and artistic styles and experiment with various artmaking methods in a studio environment.
Led by experienced McMichael art instructors, the Art Explorers program will include guided exhibition tours , outdoor activities, and artmaking exercises that will encourage campers to discover their creative power and meet new friends.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR TEENS
Program Description:
Thanks to the growth of social media, photography has become a compelling tool in telling personal stories. In this two-day workshop, budding photographers will learn how to create digital images that successfully tell a story and experiment with their individual artistic style.
Campers will have the opportunity to explore Meryl McMaster: Bloodline, a special exhibition of the work of this acclaimed Canadian artist whose large-scale photographs explore self-portraiture and family history. Participants will also practice their skills on the rugged beauty of the McMichael’s grounds, sharpening their understanding of photography principles.
Requirements:
Campers are required to bring their own DSLR camera, phone or iPad.
Step 1:
- Select the camp program that you wish to enroll your camper in. Your camper’s full name is required at this time.
- To complete your purchase, be sure to have a major credit card on hand. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover,and American Express.
- Complete your purchase. This step reserves your camper’s spot.
Step 2 : After purchasing a camp program, please log on to the Camp Portal to fill out some mandatory questions about your camper(s) in the Parent Portal section. You have 10 days from the purchase to complete this section.
Please note: These details are required to secure your spot. Remember to include a brief medical history, signed waivers and answer the general questions at this stage.
Please have the following information on handy for Step 2 of the registration process:
- Contact details including home and work addresses and phone numbers for parents/guardians
- Camper name and date of birth
- McMichael Membership details, if applicable
- Camper allergies, dietary restrictions, medications and treatments
- Camper medical history
- Name, address, and phone number of camper’s physician
- Emergency contacts (2) name, address and phone number
- Name, address and phone number of any additional people (must be over 18) who are authorized to pick up camper
Participants must register at least three days prior to the first day of camp.
Registrations will be confirmed by email up to two weeks prior to the first day of camp.
Rescheduling requests for ArtVenture Camps sessions after February 16, 2024 will result in an additional $50 administration fee.
All cancellation requests must be received in writing to programs@mcmichael.com. No refunds are available for March Break Camps.
The McMichael reserves the right to cancel or combine individual programs if minimum registrations are not achieved 14 days prior to a camp’s start date. Full refunds will be made in the event of program cancellation.
As the health and safety of your children and our staff and volunteers remain our top priority, we continue to follow Ontario public health guidelines and implement health and safety measures. Should the province place our region into a lockdown or impose a closure on the McMichael, you will be offered a full refund for any cancelled sessions.
