This play–based program is designed to provide a first art camp experience to young artists-to-be. Storytelling activities, interactive explorations of exhibitions and tours of the McMichael’s grounds will provide inspiration for artmaking projects. To ensure that our participants are comfortable with this full-day program, instructors will adapt the program to the young participants’ energy level, incorporating games, social time and restful breaks.
This interactive full-day art camp will offer a unique opportunity to explore the McMichael’s special exhibitions, discover new artists and artistic styles and experiment with various artmaking methods in a studio environment.
Led by experienced McMichael art instructors, the Art Explorers program will include guided exhibition tours , outdoor activities, and artmaking exercises that will encourage campers to discover their creative power and meet new friends.
Thanks to the growth of social media, photography has become a compelling tool in telling personal stories. In this two-day workshop, budding photographers will learn how to create digital images that successfully tell a story and experiment with their individual artistic style.
Campers will have the opportunity to explore Meryl McMaster: Bloodline, a special exhibition of the work of this acclaimed Canadian artist whose large-scale photographs explore self-portraiture and family history.
