2-Hour Programs
Designed to reflect curriculum expectations, these programs encourage the development of students’ abilities to comprehend, negotiate and derive meaning from the visual information contained in works of art.
Fee: $16 per student
Colour Quest
Specifically designed for young learners and focusing on the elements of design, this program offers play-based gallery activities, including role-playing and storytelling, to introduce students to iconic works of Canadian art. A gallery visit is followed by a workshop in which students experiment with artmaking techniques. A short break is included.

Story Quest
This fun and interactive program = exposes students to a variety of artistic styles and introduces the idea of “reading the art” to find stories within an artwork. Guided viewing gently encourages visual exploration while the incorporation of music and movement foster creative storytelling. The visit concludes with an artmaking workshop applying previously discussed concepts.

Outdoor Tours, On-Site Programs
1 Hour Walk
Taking advantage of the spectacular gallery grounds and adjacent the Humber River Valley, also known as the Carrying Place Trail, these outdoor programs nurture connection to nature and promote environmental stewardship.
Fee: $8 per student with the required two-hour booking, $6 per student with a three-hour booking
McMichael Outdoor Explorers
Set on the spectacular McMichael grounds and available year-round, this tour takes students on a fun and exciting nature expedition. Through a series of outdoor activities, students explore nature-based stories and the relationships between art, history, flora and fauna.

Art2Go In-School Program
2.5-Hour Sessions
Discover the art of Canada while saving on busing costs! Book an Art2Go program and McMichael instructors will bring their expertise right to your classroom! Please note that each studio program is preceded by a digital presentation introducing the McMichael.
Fee: $18 per student
The Shape of The Land Mixed Media Studio
Through guided viewing of artwork from the McMichael’s collection, students will study features of southern and Arctic landscapes and respond to them with two playful artmaking activities. While identifying and describing specific landforms, students will have an opportunity to learn the elements of art and how to apply them in their own compositions.

Virtual Classroom
1-Hour Workshops
These highly interactive virtual programs guide students through the process of looking at, analyzing and interpreting works of art from the gallery’s permanent collection while learning about different styles of art and how they are created.
Fee: $10 per student
Through the Window
Young learners enjoy getting a different view of the world as seen through the artist’s window in a selection of artworks in the McMichael’s permanent collection. Interactive activities introduce the elements of design including colour, line, and shape and collaborative storytelling engages students’ literacy skills. A final artmaking activity encourages students’ creative responses and self-expression.
