While the McMichael's doors may be temporarily closed, an extraordinary amount of work is happening behind them. Our Collections, Conservation, Tech Services, and Library & Archives teams are in the midst of a full decantation — the careful, systematic relocation of an entire collection — moving 96,914 works out of a building on the verge of transformation.

Acquired by the McMichael in 2014 through the generous support of the artist’s family in the United States, the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Cultural Property Export and Import Act, and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation, the Lismer Archive reveal a more personal side of Lismer’s world.
