A Journey Through the Wilderness with Dominik Modlinski
Join us at for an inspiring presentation by Dominik Modlinski, a leading contemporary Canadian landscape artist and popular art instructor and lecturer. Known for his bold use of colour and texture, Dominik’s work captures the essence of the Canadian North and other remote regions around the world.
In this special talk, Dominik will share his creative process, taking audiences on a journey through the wilderness as he explains how he transforms plein air paintings, created on-location, into large-scale studio works. His adventurous expeditions often involve weeks spent deep in challenging terrain, immersing himself in nature to paint awe-inspiring scenes.
With stories and pictures from his travels across the Arctic, Antarctica, South America, and beyond, Dominik’s presentation will also reflect his passion for conservation, offering insight into the challenges and rewards of painting in remote locations and illuminating the artist’s process back in the studio.
Dominik’s paintings are represented by leading galleries in Canada, and his works have been widely collected in Canada and the United States for more than 30 years.

Dominik J. Modlinski is a renowned Canadian landscape artist who specializes in capturing the beauty of wilderness areas through his paintings. He is known for his plein air style of painting, which involves creating artwork on location, often in remote and rugged terrain.
Modlinski’s passion for wilderness painting has taken him to some of the most remote and challenging locations on the planet. He has traveled extensively across continents and hemispheres, including Antarctica, the High Arctic, Greenland, Patagonia, Namibia, South Africa, Bolivia, and Peru, to name a few.
Through his artwork, Modlinski aims to inspire people to preserve the beauty of our planet. He recognizes the urgent need to protect wilderness areas around the globe, as they are rapidly disappearing due to human activities and climate change. In addition to his paintings, Modlinski also shares his experiences through photographs, stories, and videos.
