Discover the art of watercolour in this immersive two-day workshop.

This two-day workshop covers essential watercolour techniques with a focus on colour perception exercises, equipping participants with the skills to paint directly from nature. We’ll explore how to interpret and elevate sketches and photo references into studio paintings using this spontaneous, travel-friendly medium.

This workshop includes a course outline and reference materials that will be provided one week in advance. Participants are also welcome to work from their own photos or reference material.

About the Instructor

British Columbia-based artist David McEown has used the medium of watercolour for the past 30 years to explore and express many of the planet’s biomes. The subjects of his paintings span the North Pole to Antarctica. David’s work is represented in collections worldwide.

David is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, which in 2005 and 2018 awarded him the society’s prestigious A.J. Casson Medal. He is also a sought-after teacher and has conducted workshops and presentations for numerous art societies and museums.
