All Things with Imagination
A McMichael Juried Competition
WORKS ON CANVAS/PANEL
The All Things With Imagination competition was such fun to jury, as the submissions were so wonderfully different from each other in terms of both approach and execution. The one thing our competition artists did share was a clear interest in pushing the boundaries of their chosen medium and subject matter in truly exciting and creative ways. A huge thank-you to the artists who submitted their work and sparked such lively discussion among the jury, and congratulations to our winners!

A McMichael Juried Competition
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Application Deadline: March 2, 2020 by 5 pm
Competition Description
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Group of Seven’s first exhibition, the McMichael invites all friends of the gallery to participate in a juried art competition.
The competition is inspired by the following Arthur Lismer quote:
“Art is not in possession of those who can draw, write poems, make music or design buildings. It belongs to all those who can see their way through all things with imagination.“
We invite you to respond to Lismer’s call by examining our surroundings and considering all things with imagination. Ask yourself this: do we still view our country as a pristine landscape? How does your answer impact our sense of Canadian identity?
All artists are invited to present up to two works in the following formats:
- Stretched canvas or panel (16 x 20 inches)
- Paper (11 x 14 inches)
