Maria Chapdelaine

Sunday, December 8

2 pm

About the talk

Former Senior Curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Ian M. Thom, will discuss the multimedia illustrations made by artist Clarence Gagnon for the 1933 edition of Maria Chapdelaine, a novel by the French novelist Louis Hémon. Rarely on view because of their delicacy, the McMichael will also publish a book with Gagnon’s entire suite of 54 illustrations to coincide with the exhibition, featuring an essay by Thom. After the talk, Ian M. Thom will be signing copies of the book.

Free with gallery admission.

Registration required.
