Old Growth: Masterworks
by the Group of Seven
and their Contemporaries

Speaker: John Geoghegan

Celebrate the opening of Old Growth: Masterworks by the Group of Seven and their Contemporaries with a special curatorial talk that offers fresh insight into some of the McMichael’s most iconic works.

Bringing together masterworks by Tom Thomson, Lawren Harris, Emily Carr, A.Y. Jackson, and J.E.H. MacDonald, Old Growth is organized geographically, taking visitors on a powerful journey from the forests of Algoma to the peaks of the Rockies and the vastness of the Arctic tundra.

In this illustrated lecture, McMichael Curator John Geoghegan explores the artists, stories, and relationships behind these defining paintings—revealing new ways of seeing works that have shaped generations’ understanding of the Canadian landscape.
