This Family Sunday invites visitors of all ages to take creative risks—through graffiti art, unconventional storytelling inspired by Robert Munsch, and fresh perspectives on beloved McMichael artworks that were once considered radical, eccentric, or even unacceptable.

with Moises Frank

Drop-in Art Making Workshop

Once considered an illegal intervention in public space, graffiti is now recognized as a powerful and vibrant art form. Led by artist Brother Moises (also known as Moises Frank), this hands-on workshop introduces participants to the ideas, techniques, and cultural impact of graffiti art as a dynamic form of visual communication.

About Brother Moises

Brother Moises / Moises Frank, is a multidisciplinary artist active in Canada, Spain, and Nicaragua. His work explores themes of migration, identity, and collective memory through murals, paintings, and installations. Passage, one of his most recent murals can be seen at Dundas West Open Air Museum.

Did you know that early in their careers, the Group of Seven were dismissed by critics as “Hot Mush School” painters? This interactive storytelling session explores how some of the McMichael’s most celebrated artworks were once misunderstood, revealing how bold, unconventional ideas often take time to be appreciated.

M. John Kennedy’s hit solo show Fireside Munsch is a high-energy performance featuring four of Robert Munsch’s classic stories performed as one wacky storytelling play: Andrew’s Loose Tooth, Alligator Baby, Smelly Socks and No Clean Clothes.
