Green, Gallery, Garden:
A McMichael Day Trip
Co-hosted by Opaloma

Escape the city for a day of art, poetry, plants, and conversation. Join Odessa Paloma Parker of Opaloma for an intimate bus trip to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, where art and landscape come together in one of Canada’s most beautiful gallery settings.

The day begins with a curator-led tour of Fresh Air: New Acquisitions in Context, followed by a 3-course prix fixe picnic lunch on the McMichael grounds. In the afternoon, artist Zachari Logan will discuss his new book of ekphrastic poems and drawings, Green“poems that pulse with vegetal sensitivity, moving between alleyways and art history, between inner monologue and ecological longing”—and share selected readings before leading a plant walk through the grounds alongside McMichael gardener Kim Magee.

In 2017, Logan was artist-in-residence in the iconic Tom Thomson Shack, creating work from discarded plants found on the grounds. Watch him reflect on that experience in the short film by David Hartman below.

Tickets include round-trip bus transportation from St. George Station, all programming, gallery admission, and lunch.

This event takes place rain or shine; participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.
