Andrew Cheddie Sookrah
In-Person Acrylic Painting Studio
The McMichael and art instructor Andrew Cheddie Sookrah are pleased to offer a new series of in-person studio acrylic painting sessions where beginner and intermediate artists will focus deeply on colour hues, tonal values shape, and form in acrylic painting.
Using live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, Sookrah will guide students through the painting process in a preferred degree of abstraction and subject matter.
Students will learn about tools and materials used in acrylic artmaking and, through skill-building exercises, gain a solid understanding of effective use of brushstrokes, shading, and composition.
Beginner artists are welcome to join this class! Basic drawing techniques, perspective, composition, colour, texture, use of material will be covered.
Each session will begin with a review of the objective for the evening’s class, followed by an instructor-led demonstration. Sookrah will build upon the techniques showcased in the demonstration by assigning specific skill-building exercises. The techniques derived from these exercises will then be applied to create a painting from a reference image.
