Living with Art – Summer Socials
Free with registration.
Participants can engage independently or with guardian/caregiver support.
Since 2023, the McMichael has proudly offered a series of accessible programs known as Living with Art.The program is designed for young adults (18 and over) living with exceptionalities. Living with Art provides an opportunity to explore the connections between art, nature, and the world around us in a friendly and supportive environment.
To celebrate the program’s amazing success, we would like to invite past participants, their loved ones, and those who would like to learn more about this initiative to join us for two joyful summer celebrations. The Summer Social series will offer accessible activities including sensory nature walks, exhibition tours, and creative art workshops designed to promote enjoyable learning and socialization. There will also be opportunities for the participants to share favourite creations produced throughout the previous Living with Art sessions with others!

Listen, Look and Create: A Journey into the Third Dimension
This workshop will focus on sculptures and the challenges involved in creatingthree-dimensional art. Inspired by Caroline Monnet’s exhibition Pizandawatc/The One Who Listens, participants will explore the connection between visual forms and sounds and the connections between forms and materials. The workshop will continue with an outdoor walk and studio-based mixed-media activities.
Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite 3-D or textured 2-D artworks created during the previous Living with Art sessions to share with others.
