Living with Art
Summer Socials
Designed for young adults (18+) living with exceptionalities, Living with Art is a series of accessible programs that explore the connections between art, nature, and self-expression in a warm, welcoming environment.
Since its launch in 2023, this McMichael initiative has grown into a vibrant and supportive community. To celebrate its ongoing success, we invite past participants, their families, and anyone interested in learning more about the program to join us for two joyful summer gatherings. These Summer Socials will feature accessible experiences including sensory nature walks, gallery tours, and hands-on art workshops—all designed to foster creativity, connection, and fun.
Workshops
Outdoor Exploration and Artmaking
Inspired by a new installation by McMichael artist-in-residence Iris Häussler, this session begins with a gallery visit followed by an immersive hike through the Humber River Valley. Participants will work with McMichael educators and special guest Angel Suarez exploring nature and sketching in field notebooks inspired by the Minokamik Garden.
We’ll wrap up the day by creating individual pieces inspired by our discoveries in nature, experimenting with natural ink!
Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite landscape inspired artwork created during the previous Living with Arts sessions to share with others.
