Start the March Break in flamenco style with art workshops, family exhibition tour, and a special performance by Roger Scannura and his talented family! Also, at 1:00pm, from March 12 to March 16, join an interactive family tour for March Break. Art is created in all shapes, sizes and materials! You and your family will learn about paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture.

Drop-in Art Workshop, Education Space, 11 am to 4 pm

Make artworks inspired by Flamenco dance and guitar! Explore movement, collage, texture, and shape in this fun multimedia activity.

Inuit Sculpture Demonstration, Founders’ Lounge, 11:30 am

Stop by and chat with a McMichael educator to learn about and touch samples of the beautiful Inuit carvings featured in the gallery’s current exhibitions.

Family Tour, Meet in Grand Hall, 1 pm

Take part in an interactive, family-oriented tour of The Group of Seven Guitar Project exhibition.

Ritmo Flamenco Dance and Music Ensemble Performance
Gallery 8, 2 pm

Watch a breathtaking flamenco performance featuring Roger Scannura and the Ritmo Flamenco Dance and Music Ensemble. Following the performance, take part in a 30-minute workshop learning simple flamenco rhythms and techniques. The Scannuras are Canada’s pre-eminent flamenco family pursuing their art form with authenticity and excellence. Alongside Roger Scannura, his wife Valerie founded the Ritmo Flamenco Dance and Music Ensemble in 1995. They are also proud to have nurtured their daughter Anjelica’s love of dance. She’s an award-winning dancer and choreographer who has toured throughout the world and has taken on lead roles in the film and television industry.

View photographs of Canada’s vibrant hip hop culture, listen to the beats of DJ Selector Ricks, and participate in a guided iPad Art/Photography Workshop in the …Everything Remains Raw: Photographing Toronto’s Hip Hop Culture from Analogue to Digital exhibition space.

12 to 3 pm: Music by DJ Selector Ricks – listen and ask questions!

12, 1 and 2 pm: iPad Art/Photography Workshop (approximately 45 minutes in length).
