ACCESSIBLE
PROGRAMS

At the McMichael, we strive to create programs that are accessible to all learners.

Since 2012, in close collaboration with various industry and community organizations, our Creative Learning department has developed a great variety of programs for audience members of all ages living with exceptionalities.

Each accessible program at the McMichael provides participants an opportunity to reflect and relate to art in an inclusive environment utilizing the collection and the unique outdoor spaces beyond the walls of the Gallery.

Participant, Living with Art: Accessible Program for Adults Living with Exceptionalities

“I look forward to coming to this program and I’ve been doing programs at McMichael with Autism Ontario for 11 years. I’ve learned new things about the McMichaels, as well as Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. I’ve also learned new painting techniques. I’ve also made some new friends at McMichael. I feel comfortable and happy there. The volunteers are also very friendly and helpful.”

Accessible Programs
for Adults (18+)

McMichael adult accessible programs are a series of workshops specifically designed for adults (ages 18 and over) living with exceptionalities.

Each workshop explores the connections between art and nature while promoting social interaction between participants, McMichael Educators, and Volunteers. Throughout each program, caregivers are given opportunities to see their loved ones thrive in a safe and inclusive environment while establishing social bonds and building artistic skills.

Accessible Programs
for Children and Youth

The arts are an excellent way for children to learn through play, touch, and creativity.

McMichael children and youth accessible programs are specifically developed for participants who are between 7-17 years old living with exceptionalities. Each of the programs below were developed to promote exploration, discovery, through play, creativity, and social interaction.
