Landscape Artist of the Year Canada, Featuring the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Premieres February 16
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is pleased to announce the launch of Landscape Artist of the Year Canada, the Canadian adaptation of the British hit series. The program, which debuts on Makeful TV on February 16, 2020 and is hosted by Sook-Yin Lee, brings together professional and amateur artists from across the country as contestants in an unscripted artistic challenge. The winning artwork will be on view at the McMichael beginning March 9, 2020 and will have the honour of being displayed on a historic easel that belonged to both Tom Thomson and A. Y. Jackson. Tune in for special content featuring McMichael Executive Director Ian Dejardin and the gallery’s extensive collection of Canadian landscape art.
WHEN
Worldwide broadcast premiere on Sunday, February 16. The program airs every Sunday through March 8, 2020 at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time.
WHAT
Landscape Artists of the Year Canada is a four-episode series challenging Canadian artists to compete for the coveted title of Landscape Artist of the Year Canada. Each week features breathtaking and iconic Canadian landscapes serving as both backdrop and inspiration for the artists competing to win a $10,000 cash price and the opportunity to have their artwork on view at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, home to the art of Canada.
WHERE
Landscape Artist of the Year Canada launches on Makeful TV. Following the world premiere on Makeful this February, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has the second window to air the series.
HOW
Landscape Artists of the Year Canada will debut on as part of Makeful’s free nationwide preview event, which runs from February 3 to April 5 across Canada. Viewers can tune-in at no cost.
About the McMichael Canadian Art Collection
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is an agency of the Government of Ontario and acknowledges the support of the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation. It is the foremost venue in the country showcasing the Group of Seven and their contemporaries. In addition to touring exhibitions, its permanent collection consists of over 6,500 artworks by Canadian artists, including paintings by the Group of Seven and their contemporaries, as well as First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists.
