About Our Camps
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection provides an unmatched environment for children’s art camps, with a unique combination of spectacular grounds overlooking the Humber River Valley and a world-famous art collection. Driven by the talent of the best young artists and art instructors in the Greater Toronto Area, each camp includes in-gallery art viewing, outdoor activities, and in-studio artmaking. Campers are encouraged to harness their creativity into artistic pursuits and meet new friends while exploring the art of Canada.
To ensure the health and safety of staff and participants, the McMichael has restructured the camp and increased the ratio of healthy outdoor activities to balance the time spent on indoor projects and gallery explorations. Rigorous cleaning and social distancing procedures will be implemented to ensure that campers have a safe and enjoyable summer experience.

According to York Region public health guidelines regarding learning cohorts, the McMichael cannot provide extended care for 2021. We thank you for your understanding.
Each camp class will consist of up to eight campers, one instructor, and one assistant working exclusively with the assigned group. We are closely observing the York Region Public Health guidelines, and will modify our program layout if larger cohorts are allowed. Should we increase the group size, the McMichael will assign an additional volunteer assistant.
We have implemented a number of new procedures to ensure the health and safety of every camper enrolled in the ArtVenture Summer Camp program. Each group will have their own studio space and controlled access to washrooms. Interactions between different groups will be kept to a minimum in order to avoid the mixing of cohorts.
Children will be seated at separate tables. Each child will be provided with a personal art kit which will be stored in the studio and not shared with other students. Our staff have created seating arrangements to allow students to sit at least two metres away from other participants. During the program, art instructors will ensure that all students practice social distancing measures. Students and staff are required to wear face masks at all times in accordance with York Region public health guidelines, and each learning space will be equipped with hand sanitation stations and a sink for thorough hand washing. We kindly request that all parents and guardians review social distancing practices with their child prior to the start of the session.

Health & Safety
The health and safety of our participants and staff remain our top priority. In the event that York Region returns to a level of the new provincial public health framework that requires a gallery closure, McMichael ArtVenture Summer Camps will follow the directives and advice of public health authorities and cancel all remaining in-person sessions. Parents and guardians will be offered a full refund for any remaining sessions their child is unable to attend. In the unlikely event of a closure, the McMichael will offer virtual content to keep your child engaged throughout the summer.
