Drop-in Family Art Workshop: Zine Art

Time: 11 am to 4 pm

Inspired by Marcel Dzama’s whimsical art books, this printmaking & collage workshop will unchain your child’s imagination to publish a small edition zine. While the workshop is designed for all ages and abilities, we warmly invite parents/guardian to offer support to the youngest artists.

Storytelling Circle: Tracing the Shadows

Time: 11:15 am, 12:15 pm and 1:15 pm
Location: Starting in the Grand Hall

In the spirit of Marcel Dzama’s artistic practice of re-imagining well-known visual materials, this highly interactive storytelling session encourage participants to envision alternative narratives to infuse the gloomiest of McMichael’s paintings with lightness, smile and hope.

Spotlight On: Conversations: Masterworks from the McMichael

Time: 12:30 to 1:30 pm and 2 to 3 pm

This docent-led tour leads visitors through the Canadian art pantheon in Conversations, which features diverse works carefully curated from the Gallery’s extensive permanent collection. Designed to convey something of the collection’s current breadth and taking pleasure in placing disparate works in creative conversation with one another. Conversations will explore works from The Group of Seven, Emily Carr, David Milne, Pudlo Pudlat, Rebecca Belmore, Edward Burtynsky, Gershon Iskowitz, and many others.

A FAIR TALE

Time: 2 to 3 pm

This highly interactive show brings to life the enchantment and delights of past and present community festivals and fairs. Steam Punk costumes, dynamic music and highly charged dance are all integral components of this entertaining and family friendly performance.

MOTUS O dance theatre began in 1990, creating works of physical inventiveness that have entertained audiences in Canada from coast to coast for over 30 years. This company has toured extensively in Australia, England, the U.S.A. and throughout Canada. Winners of multiple awards, MOTUS O entertains crowds wherever they perform.
