Depending on teachers’ needs, the programs can be delivered at the McMichael site, as an In-School outreach or virtually through the digital platform of teacher’s choice.
All programs are available in French, subject to French-language educators’ availability, with some programs specifically redeveloped for the French Second Language audience to address students’ various level of French literacy and specific curricular needs.
Being a recognized inclusivity leader, the McMichael offers several accessible school programs to choose from. For more information, please go to Group Accessible Programs.
However, upon request, all programs can be modified to accommodate various accessible needs.
All school programs are available on weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. September through June.
Please note that while open for school groups, the gallery is closed to the public on Mondays including the Gallery Shop and on-site café, CABIN.
Virtual and on-site programs may also be booked on weekends, in the summer and during school holidays, subject to availability.

Programs
Program Information and Fees
On-site program options include gallery and outdoor tours as well as two artmaking options.
Gallery and Outdoor Tours provide an interactive learning experience based on guided art viewing and outdoor explorations. They are all one-hour long.
Art-in Action two-hour programs combine in-gallery conversations with art making experience and focus on specific visual literacy themes and art movements.
Signature Studios are two-hour art making programs allowing students to explore their own creativity. They are often created in collaboration with well-known Canadian artists
Please note that all Gallery and Outdoor Tours, as well as Signature Studios offered on-site must be booked in combination with an additional on-site program.

On-site programs can be booked in a variety of combinations to suit students’ interest and bussing schedules.
All Signature Studios must be booked in combination with additional on-site programs.
The minimum booking requirement for on-site programs is two hours, and the minimum group size is 15 students.
- Any 2-hour booking is $16 per student.
- Any 3-hour booking is $18 per student.
- Any 4-hour booking is $24 per student.
Group Size and Chaperones
Visiting classes will be divided into groups of no more than 15 students. Each group will be allowed a specific number of chaperones, according to the following guidelines:
- JK TO GRADE 3: One adult supervisor per five students. (1:5)
- GRADES 4 TO 12: One adult supervisor per fifteen students. (1:15)
The required adult supervisors will receive complimentary admission. Any additional chaperones will be charged at the student rate.
McMichael Membership and other discounts do not apply to school group admission prices.
Supervision
Each school group will be accompanied by a McMichael staff member for the duration of their programming. Teachers and adult supervisors are required to stay with their groups for the duration of their booking, including during the optional lunch period.
Notes
All visits to our site include walking on the grounds. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather to safely and comfortably enjoy their day.
A 30-minute lunch space can be provided when booking two hours of programming upon request. Three or more hours of programming guarantees a lunch space. Please note, the McMichael does not provide food service to school groups.
A deposit of 50% of the total contracted fee is due at the time of booking. The balance is due upon program delivery. The McMichael accepts VISA, MasterCard, American Express, cash, debit, or cheques (payable to McMichael Canadian Art Collection). Groups booking programs with fewer than the minimum number of students will be charged for the minimum amount.
The McMichael recognizes that each school’s situation is unique. Please let us know if your school is an EPAN, model or performance plus school or is facing financial hardship and we can work with you to find a solution.
Any cancellations or program modifications must be received in writing 30 days prior to the scheduled programming. Cancellations made within 30 days of the scheduled programming will be charged 50% of the contracted rate. Rescheduling within 30 days of your scheduled programming will result in a 10% administration fee, calculated on the total cost of the booking.
Any change in the number of participating students must be received in writing 30 days prior to the scheduled programming. Changes made within 30 days of the scheduled programming can be altered by up to 10% of the original number booked. For example: if you have booked for 50 students, but only 25 students attend, you will be charged for 45 students (50 students, less 10%).

All McMichael In-School programs are called Art2Go.
Art2Go programs focus on artmaking and are delivered right in your classroom by a McMichael Educator. To successfully integrate the Art2Go program into your classroom please be prepared to share your school schedule and classroom logistics during the booking process.
All Art2Go programs are 2.5 hours in length and $18 per student.
Group Sizes
The minimum group size for all Art2Go programs is 20 students.
Supervision
Teachers are required to stay with the group for the duration of the program and assist the McMichael educator.

Program Information and Fees
The McMichael recommends the use of Zoom for our virtual programs. Program are run from our professional Zoom account, and educators will be provided with a private link to access their chosen content. If your school board prefers a different platform, please make note of it during the booking process. We would be pleased to adapt the program to your platform of choice.
- Any 1-hour virtual classroom booking is $10 per student.
- Any 2-hour virtual classroom booking is $16 per student.
- Any 1-hour virtual exhibition tour for more than 50 students is $6 per student.
Group Sizes
Minimum group size for virtual programs is 12 students.

Teachers are responsible for the management of their students during virtual classrooms and are required to be present for the duration of the program.

To begin the booking process please fill out the Online Inquiry Form below. Once you have completed it, our staff will contact you within two business days.
All programs are also available in French but note there are a limited number of bilingual staff available. Please communicate your request for at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate.
FAQ
Programs must be booked at least one month in advance. We recommend inquiring as early as possible to ensure your preferred date is available.
Programs are available for booking Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note that while the McMichael is closed to the public on Mondays, we remain open for school visits. Limited weekend bookings may be available upon request.
To ensure the best experience for all visitors, we require school groups to be divided into smaller groups of approximately 15 students. Each group will be assigned a McMichael educator. Details regarding group sizes, based on your scheduled program and student numbers, will be provided in a welcome email sent approximately one week before your visit.
All bookings must be confirmed through a signed agreement. After submitting an inquiry, our team will assist you in selecting an available date. Once all logistics are finalized, we will issue an agreement and invoice. Your booking will only be confirmed upon receipt of the signed agreement.
Accepted payment methods include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, debit, cash, and cheque (payable to McMichael Canadian Art Collection). A 50% deposit is required upon receipt of the agreement and invoice. The remaining balance is due on the day of your visit.
- For students in JK–Grade 3, adults are complimentary at a ratio of 1 adult per 5 students.
- For students in Grade 4–12, adults are complimentary at a ratio of 1 adult per 15 students.
- These complimentary ratios will be outlined in your invoice. Additional adults beyond these ratios will be charged at the student rate.
The McMichael does not provide food services for school groups. All participants are asked to bring a packed lunch. There is a small onsite restaurant with made-to-order dining, but it is not equipped to handle large group orders, takeout, or student/ teacher lunches.
Unfortunately, membership discounts do not apply to school programming.

- Changes must be communicated via email at least one month in advance. Any adjustments made by this time can be accommodated in full.
- Changes made within one month of your visit may only be adjusted by up to 10% of your original booking.
Increases in student numbers must also be communicated one month in advance. We are unable to accommodate additional students on the day of your visit.
Cancellations must be communicated via email at least one month in advance to avoid penalties. Cancellations received within 30 days of your scheduled visit are subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
Yes, rescheduling is possible with a minimum of one month’s notice. Requests made within 30 days of your scheduled visit are subject to a 10% administrative fee based on the total program cost.
