Popular art instructor Andrew Cheddie Sookrah is pleased to present a new series of in-person structured sessions where beginner and intermediate artists will work with colour hues and tonal values, as well as the structuring of shape and form in acrylic painting.
Using live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, Andrew will guide students through the process of creating an impactful painting in a chosen degree of abstraction of subject matter.
Working with the versatile medium of acrylics, students will learn about tools and materials used in art making and, through skill-building exercises, will gain a solid understanding of effective use of brushstrokes, shading, and composition. Andrew will support and guide students as they develop their individual vision.
Beginner artists are welcome to join this class! Basic drawing techniques, perspective, composition, colour, texture, use of material will be covered.
Each session will begin with a review of the objective for the evening’s session, followed by an instructor-led demonstration. Andrew will build upon the techniques showcased in the demonstration by assigning students specific skill-building exercises. The techniques derived from these exercises will then be applied to a structured painting from a reference image.
