Women of the St. Lawrence

Join Anne-Marie Bouchard, guest curator of River of Dreams: Impressionism on the St. Lawrence, for a fascinating curatorial talk about the women artists who were active in Quebec at the turn of the 20th century including Helen McNicoll, Henrietta Mabel May, Edith Watson, Regina Seiden, Kathleen Moir Morris, Ethel Seath and others. Bouchard will explore the pivotal role these artists played in shaping the artistic movements of their time as life and culture in Quebec was rapidly changing.
Speaker’s Bio
Anne-Marie Bouchard holds a doctorate in art history from the University of Montreal (2009), where she taught art history from 2006 to 2014. A specialist in visual culture and artistic practices from 1850 to 1950, she served as the curator of modern art at the MNBAQ from 2014 to 2024, where she curated acclaimed exhibitions including Helen McNicoll: An Impressionist Journey, 350 Years of Artistic Practices in Quebec, and 1950: Quebec by American Photojournalist Lida Moser. Currently, she lectures in museology at Université Laval and is completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
