About The Exhibition

Into the Light: Lionel LeMoine FitzGerald is a comprehensive examination of the accomplishments and legacy of the Winnipeg artist Lionel LeMoine FitzGerald (1890–1956), the last member to join the Group of Seven in 1932. Beloved for his sensitive and serene depictions of Manitoba, FitzGerald was the Group’s only member to hail from western Canada. This exhibition of his work, co-curated by McMichael Chief Curator Sarah Milroy, Executive Director Ian A.C. Dejardin and the acclaimed Canadian art scholar Michael Parke-Taylor, will gather more than 200 paintings, drawings and prints by the artist, and is presented in partnership with the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
