You’re invited to a virtual talk with Ian Dejardin, Executive Director of the McMichael, on the legacy of Tom Thomson. Master of the plein air oil sketch, friend and progenitor of the Group of Seven, and the subject of one of Canada’s most enduring mysteries, no other Canadian artist has so captured the imagination of subsequent generations with such a short but dazzling career.

Dejardin will explore Thomson’s formal achievements through sketches and paintings in the McMichael’s collection and share archival photos that document his early life, commercial and artistic career, and friendship with the artists who would go on to found the Group of Seven.
