McMichael Mini Art Explorers

This play–based program is designed to provide a first art camp experience to young artists-to-be. Storytelling activities, interactive explorations of exhibitions, and tours of the McMichael’s grounds will provide inspiration essential to this program’s hands-on art making projects. To ensure that our participants are comfortable with this full-day program, the instructors will make sure to adapt the program to the young children’s energy levels, and to incorporate enjoyable games and social breaks

Requirements: All art materials will be provided.

McMichael Art Explorers

Ages 6 – 12

This interactive full-day art camp is an opportunity to explore the McMichael’s exhibitions, discover new artists and artistic styles, and creatively experiment with various artmaking methods in a safe studio environment.

Driven by the talent of experienced McMichael art instructors, Art Explorers will involve guided exhibition viewing, outdoor activities, and in-studio artmaking exercises that will encourage campers to discover their creative power and meet new friends.

Requirements: All art materials will be provided.

Extended Care Options

Before Care: 8 to 9 am
After Care: 5 to 6 pm

Cost: $15 per hour, with a 20% discount for those registering for the full week

Extended Care Options are available for the week. Featuring one hour of cooperative games and small art activities to help campers wake up each morning and cool down at the end of the day, while giving parents/caregivers a bit of extra time to make it to work and back.

Themes for the week include Origami Fun, Button Making, Show & Tell, Paper Bag Puppets, Springtime Flowers & Butterflies, and more!

What You Need to Know

Step 1:

  • Select the camp program in which you wish to enroll your camper.
  • Please create a username and password: you will need to use it again while creating your child’s profile in the Camp Portal. It is suggested you use your email address as your username.
  • Your camper’s full name is required at this time.
  • To complete your purchase, be sure to have a major credit card on hand. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
  • Complete your purchase.  This step is the payment portion of your purchase. You will then need to complete STEP 2.

Step 2:

After purchasing a camp program, please log on to the Camp Portal to fill out some mandatory questions about your camper(s). You will need your username and password for this process.

You have 10 days from date of purchase to complete this section. We encourage you to use a desktop computer or laptop as opposed to a mobile device when completing this step.

Please note:

These details are required to secure your spot.  You will need to add the following information to the Portal:

  • Household Participants: add the camper and any other parent/caregiver to the household (select Family Members).
  • Assign the camper to each class registered.
  • Fill-out the student information form, which includes medical information about the camper.
  • Add all individuals permitted to pick-up the camper, including parents.

Registrations are confirmed upon receipt of payment and information in the McMichael Camp Portal.

All rescheduling requests for ArtVenture March Break Camp sessions must be received prior to Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and will result in an additional $50 administration fee.

All cancellation requests must be received in writing and sent to: campdirector@mcmichael.com.

For ArtVenture March Break Camps, cancellation requests must be submitted by Wednesday, February 5, 2025, to receive a refund of fees less the $50 administrative fee.

No refunds will be available after this date.

The McMichael reserves the right to cancel or combine individual programs if minimum registrations are not achieved 14 days prior to a camp’s start date. Full refunds will be made in the event of program cancellation.
