LEGACY GIVING

It all began with the purchase of ten acres of land in Kleinburg, Ontario by Robert and Signe McMichael …

This purchase would leave an indelible mark on the Canadian art scene, and prove to be the humble beginnings of what would become an enduring legacy.

Our Legacy Giving Program

There are many ways to make a gift to the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation. Some people choose to make a direct cash donation, while others elect to make provisions in their wills, bequeathing a portion of their estate to support a particular area of interest. Undesignated bequests are particularly valued as they allow the McMichael to apply the full gift and/or the income from the investment of the gift to the highest priorities.

The individual’s estate will receive a donation receipt from the Foundation for the full amount of the bequest, which will assist in reducing the tax payable on his/her final income tax return. Such a bequest provides the opportunity for an individual to make a much larger gift than would normally be possible during his/her lifetime. For many people this is an important part of their legacy planning.

Individuals who undertake a planned gift to the McMichael are helping to ensure that an important part of Canada’s artistic and cultural heritage is preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.
