Program Description

This virtual studio experience will be taught live through the Zoom platform by artist Andrew Sookrah. Sookrah will offer live demonstrations in acrylics, as well as critiques and advice on students’ individual work. Topics covered include, mastering perspective, reflections in water, patterns, texture, skies and clouds, dramatic light, depth and negative space, with special attention given to basic drawing techniques such as composition, colour, texture and effective brushstrokes. Follow along as Andrew Sookrah guides you through three distinct landscape paintings from start to finish using photographic references.

Level: Open to all skill levels. Our experienced instructor will adapt his teaching style to his students’ experience.

Requirements: An internet connection, microphone and camera-enabled computer or smartphone is required. This class will be delivered via the video conferencing app Zoom. You do not require a Zoom account to participate; the link to access the class will be sent to you in advance.

About the Instructor

Andrew Sookrah is a professional artist and an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Canadian Artists, the Ontario Society of Artists, and the Portrait Society of Canada. He was a runner up contestant in Landscape Artist of the Year Canada 2020. Sookrah uses a combination of painting demonstrations and individual guidance to create a fun, supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
