Program Description

In conjunction with the exhibition …Everything Remains Raw: Photographing Toronto’s Hip Hop Culture from Analogue to Digital, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection is pleased to present the Beats2Bordes Videography Workshop, a unique learning opportunity for youth aged 14 to 18. Led by photojournalist Juan Gomez, the workshop will cover essential videography techniques, including composition, lighting and shooting on location.

iPads will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a camera, however, it is not required.

About the Artist

Juan Gomez is a photojournalist, music researcher, deejay and the head of African music programming for Pandora Media in the United States.  Gomez has documented the afro-dancehall scenes of Zimbabwe and Ghana, and has conducted extensive research on the popular music trends of West Africa following the 1950s.
