About the event

The McMichael’s art collection proudly features a substantial number of paintings, drawings and archival materials by and related to Emily Carr. On the anniversary of Carr’s 150th birthday, McMichael Executive Director Ian Dejardin and Chief Curator Sarah Milroy will dive deep into the collection to provide an intimate look at some of Carr’s most well-known as well as some of her least familiar works. Milroy and Dejardin will frame their examination of Carr’s works in the rich historical and social context of her times, reflecting the artist’s legacy and her continued relevance today. This virtual event will be offered over the Zoom platform.
